Opening of Crossings on Aston in Santa Rosa
Santa Ana, CA, January 2019 — Urban Housing Communities (UHC) is pleased to announce the completion and opening of our latest affordable housing development: Crossings on Aston. Located at 706 Aston Ave in Santa Rosa, California, this new 27-unit building furthers UHC’s commitment to bring affordable workforce housing to families in California earning between 30% and 60% of the area’s median income.
Crossings on Aston brings a Craftsman-inspired sensibility to 14 two-story duplex buildings set on just under two acres in one of Santa Rosa’s Neighborhood Revitalization areas. Residents enjoy convenient access to a public park, as well as nearby transportation and grocery store options. Units are available from 1–3 bedrooms, complete with dishwasher, refrigerator, and range, as well as Energy Star appliances, wood-look hard surface flooring, quartz countertops, water-saving fixtures, and ceiling fans in every room. All units include a one-car garage and driveway for additional parking, as well as guest parking on the premises. Washers and dryers are on-site for added convenience.
More than just home builders, UHC is mission-driven to help foster a sense of community. Crossings on Aston features a community room with kitchen and an outdoor recreation area complete with play equipment, helping to create a space that brings residents, family and friends together. In addition to the shared recreation area, the grounds also feature attractive, water-wise landscaping that compliments both the architecture and the environment. These efforts have made Crossings on Aston a Build It Green GreenPoint-rated property, a designation that recognizes not only the property’s resource efficiency and durability, but also the healthy and livable community it helps foster. With a deep interest in the needs of residents, UHC further distinguishes itself with a social service mission that innovates on traditional community-building. By providing essential social services to in-need residents, combined with residences designed specifically for long-term occupancy, UHC is able to create more than housing; they’re able to supply the essential ingredients for creating homes where individuals and families can flourish.
In a market where housing pressures have only intensified, especially with the recent and devastating fires in Sonoma County, UHC is proud of its work in creating additional housing in Santa Rosa; in particular, UHC’s history and ability to form partnerships toward common shared goals. The City of Santa Rosa, the City of Santa Rosa Housing Authority, Central Valley Coalition for Affordable Housing, RBC Capital, and Citibank are just a few of the dedicated partners that have enabled the funding and construction of this much-needed addition to Santa Rosa’s affordable housing supply.
